When you first start planning your wedding it can be a little bit overwhelming with so many things to think about, so we thought we’d put together this quick guide to choosing your suppliers to give you a bit of a helping hand and make the whole process a little bit less stressful.

All the hard work will be worth it in the end when you’re enjoying the best day of your life with your love, so read on to find out our advice for choosing your suppliers.

Take your time

Ideally, you want to book your suppliers with plenty of time to go before the big day, but just because you want to book them as early as you can doesn’t mean that you should rush the process.

Take your time and do plenty of research, the last thing you want to do is book the first suppliers you find and then be second guessing your choices further down the line.

It’s also really important to figure out things like your budget before you make any decisions when it comes to suppliers. Make sure you know exactly how much you’ll have spare for what, and check out this great list of suggestions from Buzzfeed if you need any inspiration for keeping things thrifty.

Speak to your venue

Communicate with your chosen venue about your needs as they will have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to local suppliers.

We spoke to Broadoaks Country House Hotel in the Lake District who told us “we host so many wonderful weddings here at Broadoaks and are always happy to offer advice when it comes to suitable and reliable suppliers! We’ve worked with everyone from musicians to florists and when you book your wedding with us we will provide you with all of their details.”

Make enquiries

Make enquiries with any suppliers you’ve found that seem like they will be suitable for your needs. Give them a bit of an overview of what you’re looking for, the date and the location of your wedding, and any other important details.

It’s also important to make a note of their payment and deposit terms, terms and conditions, and any optional extras they offer.

Once you’ve got this information from a few different suppliers make a shortlist and hunt down any testimonials you can find, mentions on social media, and anything that helps you build a picture of what they’d be like to work with.

Make a decision

Once you have done enough research to make an informed decision it is also important to listen to your gut when making your final choices.

Then it’s time to let your chosen suppliers know the good news! It’s also polite to thank those you’ve spoken to and let them know you’ve made a decision.

And that’s it! Time for the real planning to begin! We hope this has helped you a little with the process of finding the best suppliers for you to make your big day really special.
